Sister Agnes Boyle, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope who served for 46 years at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, died Nov. 10 at St. Catherine of Siena Convent in Caldwell, N.J. She was 91.

Sister Agnes was at Mount St. Mary, 1963-2009. She served in college archives, 2007-2009; as assistant to the president for mission integration, 2004-2007; academic dean/vice president of academic affairs, 1974-2004; and professor of education and chair of the division of education, 1963-1974.

She served at Bishop Dunn Memorial School, Newburgh, as principal, 1969-1974, and teacher, 1951-1952. She taught at Nativity, the Bronx, 1953-1963.

She also was on the leadership team for the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, one of three Dominican congregations that merged in 1995 to form the Dominican Sisters of Hope.

Born in Philadelphia, she entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1951 and professed final vows in 1956.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Glassboro State College, Glassboro, N.J.; and a master’s in educational psychology and a doctorate in elementary curriculum, both from Fordham University.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 16 in the chapel of the Dominican Center at Mount St. Mary College. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery at Mount St. Mary College.
