Sister Ann Marie Damiani, C.S.JB.

Sister Ann Marie Damiani, C.S.JB., a longtime teacher and administrator in New York and New Jersey, died Aug. 17 at Staten Island University Hospital. She was 76.

Sister Ann Marie served as dean of students at St. John Villa Academy, Staten Island, 1985-1997, where she had taught business classes, 1968-1977. She ministered to the sick and homebound at Holy Rosary parish, Staten Island, 2014-2018.

She was superior at Providence Rest, the Bronx, 2011-2014.

She was assistant principal and teacher at St. Dominic School, the Bronx, 1997-1999, where she also taught, 1960-1968. She taught at St. James, Manhattan, while serving as superior at St. James Convent, 1982-1985. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she served as assistant principal and taught at Mount St. John Academy in Gladstone, N.J. She was a pastoral associate at New Jersey parishes in Stirling, 2008-2011, and Peapack, 2008.

She served her religious congregation as provincial secretary, 1999-2007, and provincial councilor, 1981-1985.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in 1958 and made final vows in 1965 at St. Dominic Convent in the Bronx.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Regan.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 21 at St. John Villa Chapel on Staten Island. Burial was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
