Sister Bridget O’Sullivan, O.P.

Sister Bridget O’Sullivan, O.P., who taught for more than four decades at St. Helena and Msgr. Scanlan High Schools in the Bronx, died Aug. 10 at Einstein Hospital in the Bronx. She was 84.

She taught at St. Helena’s and Msgr. Scanlan from 1967 to 2011. She taught in the Bronx at Aquinas High School, 1962-1967, and St. Theresa’s School, 1954-1955, and in Manhattan at St. Rose of Lima, 1949-1954. She also taught at a school in Woodside, Queens, 1955-1962.

She was a childcare worker at Cardinal McCloskey Home, White Plains, 1948-1949.

Born in Manhattan, Sister Bridget entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1946 and professed final vows in 1953. She was formerly known as Sister Ann Eileen.

She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University and a master’s degree in religious studies from Manhattan College.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 16 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill.
