Sister Eamonn Harpur, R.S.H.M.

Sister Eamonn Harpur, R.S.H.M., who served for more than 35 years at Marymount College in Tarrytown, died at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown May 11. She was 91.

At Marymount College in Tarrytown, she served first in Tea House, a gathering place for students, and then in the campus store.

She left the college in 1986 and spent a year in Rome on sabbatical, after which she returned to Tarrytown and became a member of the Marymount Convent staff, ministering to the older sisters living there. Even after she was no longer a formal member of the staff, she continued to serve the sisters.

Born in County Wexford, Ireland, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1947 and made final vows in 1954.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sister Catherine Harpur, R.S.H.M., and Sheila Harpur Murphy, and a brother, Eamonn Harpur. She is survived by a sister, Sister Anne Harpur, S.J.G., and a brother, John Harpur.

A Funeral Mass was offered May 17 at Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
