Sister Gertrude Lauzon, O.P.

Sister Gertrude Lauzon, O.P., a Dominican Sister of Hope who served as a teacher and catechist, died May 30 at St. Catherine of Siena Convent in Caldwell, N.J. She was 93.

She was a teacher and a catechist in Plattsburgh, Mooers Forks, West Chazy and Ellenburg, all in New York, and in Massachusetts.

She also was treasurer of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River, Mass., 1983-1994.

She lived for a time in retirement at the Newburgh Center of Hope, beginning in 1995.

Born in Lynn, Mass., she entered the Dominican Sisters in 1939 and professed final vows in 1944. She held a bachelor’s degree from Regis College.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 4 at the chapel at the Mariandale Center, Ossining. Burial was in the Dominican sisters’ cemetery there.
