Sister Jean Bautz, R.S.C.J., who served at Manhattanville College in Purchase for seven years, died Dec. 23 in the Teresian House in Albany. She was 96.
Sister Jean was at Manhattanville College, 1974-1979 as director of career services, and 1971-1973 as director of student services. She also served in Albany, Detroit, Connecticut and New Jersey.
Born in Queens, she entered the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1944 and professed final vows in 1952.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Manhattanville.
Her sister, Helen Bautz Strachan, survives her.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 4 in the Teresian House chapel. Burial was in Kenwood Cemetery, Albany.
