Sister Kathleen McCann, R.D.C., who served as a librarian at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie, 1987-2006, died Dec. 8 at Providence Rest nursing home in the Bronx. She was 88.

Sister Kathleen also served as school librarian at Preston High School in the Bronx, 1967-1987.

She was a teacher at St. Anthony’s School, West Harrison, 1964-1967; St. Lawrence O’Toole, Brewster, 1960-1964 and 1957-1958; St. Bernard, White Plains, 1958-1960; and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Elmsford, 1952-1957.

Born in the Bronx, Sister Kathleen entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion in 1949 and made final vows in 1955. She held a bachelor’s degree in English from Good Counsel College in White Plains, and a master’s in library science from St. John’s University. She was formerly known as Sister Mary Adelaide.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas.

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 11 at Divine Compassion Chapel in White Plains. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
