Sister Margaret Rose Curry, S.C., who served as a teacher and a licensed practical nurse in the archdiocese, died Aug. 11 at Mary the Queen Convent in Yonkers. She was 95.

She taught in the Bronx at St. Gabriel’s, 1950-1954, and Blessed Sacrament, 1962-1967, and in Manhattan at St. Brigid’s, 1956-1962; St. Francis Xavier, 1939-1942; and Incarnation, 1942-1944. She also taught at St. John the Evangelist, White Plains, 1967-1971.

She became a licensed practical nurse in 1971, serving in New Rochelle at a hospital extended care facility and home for the aged. She also served at Mary the Queen Convent in Yonkers and St. Patrick’s Villa in Nanuet.

Born in New Rochelle, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1937 and professed final vows in 1943. She was formerly known as Sister Elizabeth Marietta.

She held a bachelor’s degree from the College of Mount St. Vincent.

She is survived by her brother, John.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 16 at Mary the Queen Convent, with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
