Sister Maria, Served 52 Years in Hawaii

Sister Maria Rosario Daley, M.M., who served as a missioner to Hawaii for 52 years, died Oct. 18 in Honolulu. She was 95.

Sister Maria was in Hawaii, 1948-1967 and 1985-2018. She served in various roles at Maryknoll in Ossining, 1967-1985, including six years teaching math and working in the admissions office at Mary Rogers College.

Born in Albany, Sister Maria entered the Mary-

knoll Sisters in 1945 and professed final vows in 1951.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in math and Latin from the College of St. Rose, Albany; a master’s in math from Boston College; and a master’s in theology at the Maryknoll Seminary, Ossining.

Her sisters, Veronica and Rose, and brother, Father James Daley, survive her.

A Funeral Mass is being offered Monday, Nov. 12, at Sacred Heart Church, Honolulu. Burial follows in Diamond Head Cemetery, Honolulu.
