Father Edward “Lou” Quinn, M.M.

Father Edward “Lou” Quinn, M.M., who served in Taiwan for 37 years, died Feb. 23 at the Maryknoll Society Center in Ossining. He was 93.

Father Quinn was in Taiwan, 1954-1991, serving as a pastor and assistant pastor, supervisor of the clinical pastoral education programs and third assistant to the regional superior for the Taiwan Mission Region. He also served in New Jersey and Tanzania.

Born in Redwood City, Calif., he entered Maryknoll in 1939, professed his final vows in 1950 and was ordained in 1951.

He received a bachelor’s degree in theology and a master’s in religious education, both from Maryknoll Seminary. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Manhattan College.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 in Queen of Apostles Chapel, Ossining. His cremated remains were placed in the columbarium at Maryknoll.
