Sister Mary Nora Kelley, R.S.M., who served as a teacher and support staff member for 19 years at St. Catharine Academy in the Bronx, died Sept. 17 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. She was 89.

She served at St. Catharine, 1967-1986. She taught at Commander Shea Memorial School, Manhattan, 1959-1960, and St. Cecilia, Manhattan, 1955-1959. She was on the staff at Marian Woods, Hartsdale, 2001-2009; administrator of Mercy Convent, Yonkers, 1996-2001; and assistant administrator, 1986-1995, and postulant mistress, 1964-1967, at Mount Mercy, Dobbs Ferry.

Born in Brasher Falls, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1948 and professed final vows in 1953. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University, the Bronx, and a master’s from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Ind.

Her brother, James Kelley, survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 23 in Marian Woods Chapel, Hartsdale. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
