Sister Mary Paul Reynolds, O.S.F.

Sister Mary Paul Reynolds, O.S.F., an educator and former general superior of the Sisters of St. Francis, Hastings-on-Hudson, died April 29 at the Wartburg Care Facility, Mount Vernon. She was 90.

She was general superior of the community from 1986 until 1992. She was then appointed community treasurer and remained in that capacity until she retired in 2007. She was also an archivist for the community, 1992-2009.

She was assistant principal at St. Catharine’s Academy in the Bronx, 1971-1986. He taught at St. Eugene’s School, Yonkers, 1951-1955 and 1968-1971; St. Clare Academy High School, Hastings-on-Hudson, 1947-1951 and 1955-1968; St. Catharine’s, Pelham, 1946-1947; and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Poughkeepsie, 1942-1943.

She also served on the boards of St. Agnes Hospital and St. Agnes Children’s Unit, White Plains; St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie; the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, Mount Loretto, Staten Island, and Nazareth Nursery, Manhattan.

Born in Tuckahoe, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin in 1942 and professed final vows in 1948. She held master’s and bachelor’s degrees in science from Fordham University.

Her brothers, Msgr. William Reynolds and Msgr. Joseph Reynolds, both retired priests of the archdiocese, and John and Owen Reynolds, survive her.

A Funeral Mass was offered May 3 at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
