Sister Nora McArt, O.P.

Sister Nora McArt, O.P., who served her entire ministry as a teacher and principal at schools in the Bronx, died Sept. 20 at the Joe Raso Hospice Home, New City. She was 68.

She taught at St. Martin of Tours, the Bronx, from 1969 to 2006. She then served as principal until the school was closed in 2011. She had previously taught at St. John Chrysostom, also in the Bronx, 1966-1969.

She lived at the Dominican motherhouse in Sparkill, beginning in 2011.

Born in New York City, she entered Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1963 and professed her final vows in 1970. She marked her golden jubilee of religious life this year. She was formerly known as Sister Eileen Daniel.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College, and a master’s from City College. Both were in the field of education.

Her sister Eileen Dudzinski survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 24 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill. She was buried at St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill.
