Sister Patrice Murphy, S.C., who served at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan for 28 years, died April 18 at Schervier Nursing Care Center in the Bronx. She was 86.

Sister Patrice served in nursing roles and as an instructor in the school of nursing at St. Vincent’s, 2006-2008, 1970-1989 and 1953-1960. She served in administrative roles for nursing and the school of nursing at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Staten Island, 1960-1970. She was at St. Patrick’s Villa, Nanuet, 2000-2006, and Mary the Queen Convent, Yonkers, 1996-2000 and 1975-1977, and was director of development at the Sisters of Charity Center, the Bronx, 1989-1996.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1950 and professed final vows in 1958.

She received a RN diploma from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, Manhattan; and bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in nursing, from Hunter College, Manhattan.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 25 in Mount St. Vincent Convent Assembly Room, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
