Sister Patricia Egan, O.P., a teacher in the archdiocese for 34 years, died Aug. 24 in Siena Hall at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 82.
Sister Patricia taught at Aquinas High School, the Bronx, 1977-1993; Rosary Academy, Sparkill, 1970-1977; St. Helena High School, the Bronx, 1965-1970; Albertus Magnus High School, Bardonia, 1961-1965; and St. Rose of Lima School, Manhattan, 1956-1958. She also served in St. Louis and New Jersey, and worked at Dominican Convent.
Born in the Bronx, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1953 and professed final vows in 1960. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, and a master’s degree in math from Manhattan College, the Bronx.
Her sister, Anne O’Toole, survives her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Aug. 31 in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill.
