Sister Regina Rosaire Ruth, O.S.F.

Sister Regina Rosaire Ruth, O.S.F., who served for 36 years at St. Eugene’s parish and school in Yonkers, died Jan. 16 at Wartburg in Mount Vernon. She was 90.

At St. Eugene, Sister Regina Rosaire served as director of religious education, 2004-2014; religious education coordinator, 2000-2004; and teacher, 1978-2000. She was an educator at St. Ann School, Ossining, 1977-1978; Holy Name of Jesus, New Rochelle, 1971-1977 and 1962-1968; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pelham Manor, 1968-1971; St. Aloysius at Mount Loretto, Staten Island, 1954-1962; and St. Catharine, Pelham, 1948-1954.

Born in Queens, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1945 and professed final vows in 1951. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Manhattan College, the Bronx; a master’s in education from Fordham University; and a master’s in religious studies from Manhattan College.

Her sister, Sister Theresa Ruth, O.S.F., survives her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 24 at St. Catharine Church, Pelham. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
