Sister Rose Eileen McGinn, O.P.

Sister Rose Eileen McGinn, O.P., an educator at schools in the archdiocese and in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Diocese of Brooklyn, died Aug. 5 at Siena Hall, Sparkill. She was 95.

She taught at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill from 1969 to 1974. She previously taught and later served as principal of St. Catherine of Sienna parish school in Manhattan, 1943-1944 and 1961-1963. She also served at schools in Brooklyn and Springfield Gardens, Queens; and St. Louis and Brentwood, Mo.

Born in St. Louis, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1936 and professed her final vows in 1943. She held a bachelor’s degree in social studies and a master’s in education, both from St. Louis University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 10 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Sparkill. Burial was at St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkill.
