Sister Teresita Duque, S.C.

Sister Teresita Duque, S.C., who served at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan for 47 years, died March 17 at Kittay Senior Apartments in the Bronx. She was 91.

Sister Teresita was at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center, 1992-2008, 1973-1988, 1969-1973 and 1956-1968. She also served at the New York City Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1991-1992; Mary the Queen Convent, Yonkers, 1988-1991; and St. Vincent Hospital, Harrison, 1968-1969.

Born in Bogota, Colombia, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1954 and professed final vows in 1961.

She earned her RN degree from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, Manhattan. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in nursing education, from Hunter College, Manhattan.

Her brothers, Camilo, Armando and Ricardo, and her sisters, Teresa Trujillo and Connie Duque, survive her. A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 22 in the Mount St. Vincent Convent Assembly Room, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
