Sister Thomas Marie Callahan, S.C., a teacher and librarian at many elementary and high schools in the archdiocese, died May 2 at Mary the Queen Convent, Yonkers. She was 92.

She served on Staten Island at St. Peter’s High School, 1988-1991, and Blessed Sacrament School, 1973-1977; in the Bronx at St. Barnabas High School, 1979-1983, and Cardinal Spellman High School, 1962-1967; and in Manhattan at St. Ignatius Loyola School, 1983-1988, All Saints High School, 1959-1962, and Ascension School, 1949-1957. She also served at St. Mary of the Snow School, Saugerties, 1957-1959; St. Gabriel’s High School, New Rochelle, 1967-1973; and St. John’s School, White Plains, 1942-1949.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1940 and professed final vows in 1946. She held a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Mount St. Vincent and a master’s in library sciences from St. John’s University.

A Funeral Mass was offered May 6 at Mary the Queen Convent. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
