Staten Island Teens Spend Time With Jesus at Youth Fest

In Focus

Throughout the second annual Staten Island Youth Fest Oct. 17 at Moore Catholic High School, the focus remained squarely on Jesus—through various forms, including a Healing Mass, a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and music and dance. At the daylong Saturday gathering, participating teenagers were given the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, view a skit by the chastity group Corazon Puro (Pure of Heart) and attend presentations. The seminarian band rocked the crowd, and dancers from “The Messengers” and from “Muevete en Mi” of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs parish in Manhattan performed liturgical and interpretive dance. Also present were a number of Catholic groups and religious organizations and orders which staffed tables and disseminated information about their ministries. Among them were the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco who offered materials about vocations to the religious life.
