The relativist agnostic notion that nothing is predictable or certain was discredited when America put Neil Armstrong on the moon and brought him safely back to earth. Your editorial “One Small Step That Changed History” (CNY, July 18) supports the fact that certainty and predictability are possible.

Similarly, an honest jury of 12 Sherlock Holmeses would conclude the Shroud of Turin definitely bears the imprint of the historical Jesus, but you could never convince an agnostic.
