ArchCare announced it has assumed sponsorship of Providence Rest Nursing Home in the Bronx.

ArchCare at Providence Rest is a five-star-rated, 200-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center served by the Sisters of St. John the Baptist. It becomes the sixth skilled nursing facility in the ArchCare system.

The other five are Carmel Richmond Nursing Home, Staten Island; ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Rhinebeck; ArchCare at Mary Manning Walsh Home, Manhattan; ArchCare at San Vicente de Paul Skilled Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, the Bronx; and ArchCare at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center, Manhattan.

ArchCare, the archdiocesan health care system, serves more than 9,000 people daily in their homes, in the community and in the archdiocese’s nursing homes.

“Keeping care with Catholic values vibrant, relevant and accessible to the people and communities we serve is central to our ministry and one of His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan’s, highest priorities,” said Scott LaRue, president and CEO of ArchCare.

“We are privileged to welcome ArchCare at Providence Rest to our ministry and to come together to preserve and continue to build upon its remarkable Catholic mission and identity far into the future.

Since 2018, Providence Rest has been home to the ArchCare Senior Life at Providence Rest adult social day center that is part of ArchCare’s Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). ArchCare Senior Life PACE program cares for people 55 and over, who require nursing home care, in their own homes.

Current residents and their families at Providence Rest will continue to receive care from the same team of professional caregivers while gaining access to a more diverse range of care options and settings.

“Providence Rest has been blessed for many years to have the support of ArchCare,” said Sister Claudette Jaszczynski, provincial superior of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist. “As we worked together, it became abundantly clear that our complementary missions and deep Catholic roots made us far stronger together than apart.”
