Brother Richard E. Pigott, C.F.C, who served at Iona College in New Rochelle for 19 years, died Jan. 13. He was 85.Brother Pigott was at Iona College, 2003-2009 and 1983-1996. He was on the staff of Msgr. Farrell High School, Staten Island, 1977-1979, and All Hallows High School, the Bronx, 1979-1983, 1969-1977 and 1966-1967.
He also served in Florida and Canada.Born in the Bronx, he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1953 and professed final vows in 1961.A graduate of All Hallows High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Iona College, New Rochelle, and master’s degrees in theology from St. John’s University, Queens, and in English and reading from Manhattan College, the Bronx.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 19 at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle. Burial was in Christian Brothers Cemetery, West Park.
