Cardinal Dolan incenses a Ukrainian Cross of Gratitude before the 10:15 a.m. Sunday Mass March 6 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The cross, constructed in 2003 in Lviv, Ukraine, began its pilgrimage stop at the cathedral the day before and will remain there for two weeks. The arrival of the special cross is another sign of solidarity between the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of New York, who together pray for peace in Ukraine. The cross was welcomed by Father Enrique Salvo, rector of the cathedral, and Father Elias Bronovskyy, O.S.B.M., pastor of St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manhattan. Built in anticipation of the 2000th anniversary of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ in 2033, the cross has traveled to more than 46 countries.
