Deacon Alejandro Rosado

Deacon Alejandro Rosado, who served for 30 years at St. Athanasius parish in the Bronx, died Dec. 31. He was 82.

Deacon Rosado was assigned to St. Athanasius, 1983-2013. He was engaged in the parish’s liturgical and sacramental life. He was a catechist with the children and in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). He also served as assistant director of the adult formation program and baptismal team.

Born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, Deacon Rosado was ordained by Cardinal Terence Cooke in 1983.

He was a retired New York City bus driver for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority.

His wife, Esperanza, and son, Conrado, predeceased him.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 8 at St. Athanasius, with Auxiliary Bishop Peter Byrne serving as the celebrant and Father Jose Rivas, pastor of St. Athanasius, as homilist. Burial was in St. Raymond Cemetery, the Bronx.
