Father Joseph C. Henchey, C.S.S.

Father Joseph C. Henchey, C.S.S., who was on the faculty of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie for five years, died April 7 after a long illness in Evanston, Ill. He was 90.
Father Henchey was at St. Joseph’s Seminary, 2009-2014. He was a weekend celebrant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, White Plains, 2009-2012;
He served as general councilor of the Stigmatine congregation in Rome, 1988-1990 and 1970-1976, and provincial of the North American Province, 1985-1988.
He also served in upstate Waterville; Washington, D.C.; Connecticut; Massachusetts; Illinois; Virginia and Italy, where he taught Cardinal Dolan at Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (The Angelicum) in Rome.
Born in Woburn, Mass., he entered the Congregation of Sacred Stigmata in 1946, professed final vows in 1953 and was ordained a Stigmatine priest in 1956.
He earned his licentiate and doctorate in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 16 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Milford, Mass. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford, Mass.
