Father Peter Fiore, O.F.M.

Father Peter Fiore, O.F.M., who served as director of communications for the Franciscans’ Holy Name Province for six years, died April 17 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 94.

Father Fiore was director of communications at the provincial headquarters in Manhattan, 1990-1996.

He also served in Loudonville, Ballston Spa and Glens Falls.

Born in Glens Falls, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II before attending Siena College, Loudonville, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English.

He entered the Franciscans in 1950, professed his final vows in 1954 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1955. He later received a master’s in English from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and a doctorate in English from the University of London.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 25 in the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at Siena College. Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date.
