Auxiliary Bishop Peter Byrne led the distribution of 800 Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need two days before Thanksgiving Nov. 26 at the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Community Center in Harlem. (The bishop was substituting for Cardinal Dolan, who was offering a Funeral Mass for Alfred E. Smith IV at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.) Yams, potatoes and apples completed the full menu given out at the annual turkey distribution by Catholic Charities of New York.
