Brother Luis Ramos, F.M.S., a native of the Bronx, professed first vows with the Marist Brothers Aug. 10 at Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx, his alma mater.

After the Mass and ceremony, guests celebrated with the community in a luncheon at the school.

“Professing vows was a beautiful experience – to have the Marist family, my family, and my friends there helped me feel God’s love and kindness,” Brother Ramos said in a statement.

Brother Ramos, 26, teaches religion at Marist High School in Chicago and resides with other Marist Brothers at the Leavitt Street Community. He entered the Marist Brothers in 2016, and became a novice in 2017.

A 2011 graduate of Mount St. Michael Academy, Brother Ramos received his first sacraments in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program at Iona College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies in 2015.
