Cardinal Dolan was visiting to help the parish celebrate its 160th anniversary. Some 400 parishioners packed the church for the Mass and reception that followed. Parishioners enthusiastically applaud Cardinal Dolan.

The church is a jewel in the community, both outside and inside. Our Lady of Mercy is a diverse parish. People of Dominican, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Filipino and, more recently, Vietnamese and Cambodian heritage all call Our Lady of Mercy their spiritual home.
