The cardinal blesses the school’s new athletic field which now boasts a red turf. Joining him are Michael Deegan; Father Eugene Carrella, an alumnus of the school and pastor of St. Rita parish on Staten Island; Father Rhey Garcia, the school chaplain; Father Stephen Ries, priest secretary to the cardinal and Retired Auxiliary Bishop John O’Hara. The cardinal also blessed the former library which has been repurposed as a Student Collaboration Center with new furnishings and state-of-the-art technology.
