Nine Priests Named Administrators of Parishes

Eight priests were appointed administrators and one was named a temporary administrator of parishes in the archdiocese, the Cardinal’s Office announced.
The priests named administrators were Father Thomas Augustine Badgley, Holy Rosary, Greenwood Lake; Father Christopher Berean, St. John the Evangelist, Saugerties, and St. Francis de Sales, Phoenicia; Father Matthew Reiman, Holy Name of Mary-Assumption, Montgomery; Father Peter Heasley, St. Michael the Archangel, the Bronx; Father David Rider, Sacred Heart, Monroe; Father Brian Graebe, Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, Manhattan; Father James Ferreira, Our Lady Help of Christians, Staten Island; and Father Jose Felix Ortega de la Fuente, L.C., Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Bronx.
Father Patric D’Arcy was appointed temporary administrator of Our Lady of Refuge, the Bronx.
The appointments became effective July 1.

Father Thomas Augustine Badgley had served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s parish and chaplain of Lawrence Hospital, both in Bronxville, since 2013. He was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, White Plains, as parochial vicar, 2010-2013, and director of religious education, 2007-2010. He was parochial vicar of Holy Rosary, Hawthorne, 2002-2007; Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, 2000-2002; St. Mary Star of the Sea, the Bronx, 1997-2000; St. Anthony’s, Nanuet, 1991-1997; and St. Patrick, Staten Island, 1987-1991. He was ordained in 1987.

Father Patric D’Arcy had been parochial vicar of St. Anselm-St. Roch, the Bronx, since 2016. He was administrator of St. Mary-St. Joseph, Poughkeepsie, 2015-2016, and parochial vicar of Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 2012-2015. He was ordained in 2012.

Father Christopher Berean will continue to serve as pastor of St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties-St. Joseph, Glasco, a position he has held since 2015. He was pastor of St. Mary of the Snow, 2006-2015, and St. Francis de Sales, Phoenicia, 2003-2006. He was parochial vicar of St. Mary of the Snow, 1995-2003; St. Joseph, Kingston, 1995; and St. John the Evangelist, Woodstock, 1987-1995. He was ordained in 1987.

Father Matthew Reiman had served as parochial vicar of St. Clare of Assisi-St. Francis Xavier, the Bronx, since 2015. He was ordained in 2015.

Father Peter Heasley had been in Rome for graduate studies since 2016. He was at St. John the Evangelist, Goshen, as parochial vicar, 2015-2016 and 2014, and as temporary administrator, 2014-2015. He received a licentiate in Biblical Theology after studies at Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, 2013-2014, and was parochial vicar of St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, 2013. He was ordained in 2013.

Father David Rider had served as parochial vicar of St. Barnabas, the Bronx, since 2018. He was parochial vicar of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Staten Island, 2015-2018. He studied at Pontifical North American College in Rome following his ordination in 2014.

Father Brian Graebe had studied at Pontifical North American College in Rome since 2015. He was parochial vicar of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Shrub Oak, 2014-2015, and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, La Grangeville, 2011-2014. He was ordained in 2011.

Father James Ferreira has been priest secretary to Cardinal Dolan since 2014. He was parochial vicar of St. Margaret of Cortona, the Bronx, 2013-2014, and St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus, Staten Island, 2010-2013. He was ordained in 2010.

Father Jose Felix Ortega de la Fuente, L.C., had served as temporary administrator of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Refuge, the Bronx, since February. He was vice-charge of the Pontifical Institute of Notre Dame, Jerusalem, 2017-2019; pastor of St. Peter-St. Denis, Yonkers, 2014-2017; territorial administrator for the Legionaries of Christ in North America, 2004-2014; and assistant to the territorial administrator, 2002-2004. A native of Valencia, Spain, he entered the Legionaries of Christ in 1984 and was ordained in 2001.
