Sister Anne Gallo, C.S.JB., who served on Staten Island for 37 years, died Sept. 12 at Providence Rest Nursing Home in the Bronx. She was 88.

Sister Anne served on Staten Island in the Grandparenting Program at St. Vincent’s Hospital, 1999-2015, and taught at St. John Villa Academy, 1988-1999 and 1964-1967, and St. Roch School, 1981-1988. She also taught at St. Dominic, the Bronx, 1970-1980, and St. James, Manhattan, 1962-1964 and 1958-1959.

She also served in Connecticut and New Jersey.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in 1952 and professed final vows in 1959. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.

Her brother, Joseph, survives her. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 15 at Mount St. John Convent, Purchase. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
