Sister Barbara Frances Barr, M.M., who served in Bolivia for 37 years, died Aug. 27 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 94.
Sister Barbara was in Bolivia, 1993-1998, 1972-1990, 1959-1970 and 1952-1955, serving in various roles, including teacher and principal.
She worked in the communications and development departments, and also served on the congregation’s council at Maryknoll. She also served in Texas, Illinois and Peru.
Born in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama, she entered Maryknoll in 1947 and professed final vows in 1953.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College, Ossining.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 2 in Annunciation Chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery.
