Sister Catherine McGlynn, S.C., who taught at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Manhattan for nine years, died Feb. 21 in Allen Pavilion at Kittay Senior Apartments in the Bronx. She was 94.

Sister Catherine was at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1968-1977. She also taught at St. Brigid, Manhattan, 1966-1968; St. Barnabas, the Bronx, 1963-1966; Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 1962-1963; Visitation, the Bronx, 1959-1962 and 1946-1947; St. John the Evangelist, White Plains, 1954-1959; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Manhattan, 1947-1954; and St. Athanasius, the Bronx, 1947.

She was housing manager at Squadron Gardens Housing, New City, 1981-2012; housing administrator at Knickerbocker Plaza Housing, Manhattan, 1977-1981; and executive director of Alpha Housing Coalition, the Bronx, 1974-1977.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1944 and professed final vows in 1950.

A graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan, she received a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, and a master’s in education from Richmond College, Staten Island.

A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 25 in the Assembly Room at Mount St. Vincent Convent, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers.
