Sister Diane Dupee, O.P.

Sister Diane Dupee, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope who was a music teacher for decades, died June 10 at St. Catherine of Siena Convent in Caldwell, N.J. She was 88.

In the early 1960s, Sister Diane taught music at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie. Upon retiring, she shared her musical talents as a volunteer organist at the Marian Shrine, Stony Point, 2004-2017.

She served in pastoral and music ministries at St. Augustine parish, New City, 1986-2004; music ministry at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scarsdale, 1978-1986; and music ministry at the Dominican Reflection Center, Ossining, 1976-1978.

Born in New Rochelle, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1949 and made final vows in 1954. She held a bachelor’s degree in music education from Nazareth College in New Rochelle, a master’s in music from Pius XII Institute in Florence, Italy, and a master’s in liturgical studies from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Gerosa, and nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 17 in the Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary at the Dominican Center at Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh. Burial was at the Dominican Sisters of Hope Cemetery on the college’s grounds.
