Sister Dolores Rosso, M.M., who served for many years in Hawaii, died July 6 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 97.

Sister Dolores taught mostly English at the Maryknoll School on Oahu in Hawaii for 22 years ending in 1971. She was the recipient of a Teacher of the Year Award from the State of Hawaii. She served as executive director of the Maryknoll High School Alumni Office in Honolulu, 1971-1982.

Sister Dolores later served in Hawaii as a retreat director and in other capacities. At Maryknoll Sisters Center, she was director of the sisters’ archives.

Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1943 and made final vows in 1949. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College, and a master’s in English literature from the University of Hawaii.

She is survived by a brother, Thomas, and a sister, Sister Marie Rosso, M.M.

A Funeral Mass was offered July 13 in Annunciation Chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery.
