Sister Eileen Treanor, P.B.V.M.

Sister Eileen Treanor, P.B.V.M., who served at St. Paul the Apostle in Yonkers for 51 years, died Aug. 4 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. She was 91.

Sister Eileen was at St. Paul the Apostle, 1976-2021 and 1951-1957, serving as director of religious education, 1990-2021. She served as principal of St. Mary’s School, Kingston, 1969-1972; and St. Joseph, New Windsor, 1966-1969. She taught at St. John and St. Mary, Chappaqua, 1959-1966, and St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill, 1957-1959.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1949 and professed final vows in 1954. She was formerly known as Sister Mary Nicholas.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University, the Bronx, and a master’s from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 9 in St. Paul the Apostle Church, Yonkers. Burial was Aug. 10 in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, New Windsor.
