Sister Helen Fleming, S.C., who taught French at Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers for 14 years, died Nov. 18 at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry. She was 95.

Sister Helen served at Sacred Heart from 1984 until her retirement in 1998. She served at the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, as assistant to the president for special affairs, 1981-1984, and French teacher, 1961-1973.

She also taught French at St. Gabriel High School, New Rochelle, where she also was chairwoman of the modern language department, 1975-1981; Elizabeth Seton Academy, Yonkers, 1961-1973; and Cathedral High School, Manhattan, 1948-1961.

In retirement, she volunteered at Mount St. Vincent Convent, the Bronx, 2008-2019, and did congregation services in the Bronx, 1998-2008.

Born in Albany, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1946 and professed final vows in 1951.

She received a bachelor’s degree in French from the College of Mount St. Vincent, and a master’s in French from Fordham University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 22 in Mount St. Vincent Convent Assembly Room, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers.
