Sister Helen Guerrieri, C.S.JB., who served at St. John Villa Academy on Staten Island for 33 years, died April 5 at Mount St. John Convent in Purchase. She was 102.
Sister Helen was at St. John Villa Academy, 1971-1998 and 1938-1944. She also served in Glen Cove, New Jersey and Chile.
Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in 1932 and professed final vows in 1943.
She earned bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and Italian from Fordham University, the Bronx, and a master’s in Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 12 in Mount St. John Convent Chapel. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
