Sister Mary Boyan, O.S.U., who served in the French department at the College of New Rochelle for 34 years, died May 1 at Andrus on
Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 94.

Sister Mary was at the College of New Rochelle, 1958-1992, and later served at the college as a volunteer in campus ministry and at the Ursuline Institute, 1995-2003.

She taught at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, New Rochelle, 1952-1958, and served in New Rochelle at Hope Community Center,

Adult Learning Center and Ursuline Associates at St. Teresa's community.

Born in New Rochelle, she entered the Ursulines in 1946 and professed final vows in 1952. She was formerly known as Mother Theophane.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle and a master's degree from Fordham University, the Bronx.

Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
