Sister Maureen Massett, O.P., who served for 33 years as finance manager of Thorpe Village in Sparkill, died June 18 at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 84.

She was finance manager of Thorpe Village, Sparkill, 1980-2013. She was one of the original staff members of Thorpe Housing and was a licensed real estate broker.

She taught at St. Agnes Home and School, Sparkill, 1958-1959; St. John Chrysostom School, Bronx, 1959-1960; St. Theresa’s School, Bronx, 1967-1969; Aquinas High School, Bronx, 1969-1976; and Rosary Academy, Sparkill, 1976-1980. She also taught in Fulton.

In 2010, Sister Maureen was inducted into the Hall of Fame of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the class of 1960.

Born in New York City, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1956 and professed final vows in 1963. She was formerly known as Sister Marian Loretta.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, and a master’s in history from Manhattan College, Bronx.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Crowley and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are private. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
