Sister Patricia “Patt” Smith, O.P.

Sister Patricia “Patt” Smith, O.P., who taught at Corpus Christi School in Manhattan, died Sept. 2 at the Dominican motherhouse in Sinsinawa, Wis. She was 92.

She taught at Corpus Christi, 1956-1960. She also taught at schools in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota from the 1950s to 1970s. She also served in parish religious education, college campus ministry and administration, and as a provincial councilor for her congregation.

Born in Chicago, she entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1949 and made final vows in 1953. She held a master’s degree in community service and administration from Regis College in Denver. Her religious name was Sister Charissa.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 15 at the motherhouse in Sinsinawa. Burial of the cremains was at the motherhouse cemetery.
