Sister Rosaria De Maro, C.S.JB., who served as principal of St. John Villa Academy on Staten Island for three years, died at White Plains Hospital April 20, 2020, CNY has learned. She was 89.

She was at St. John Villa Academy, 1996-1999. She also served at Mount St. John Convent, Purchase, 2012-2020 and 2001-2002; Providence Rest Nursing Home, the Bronx, 1994-1996; Providence Rest Child Day Care, 1993-1994; and Provincialate, Purchase, 1992-1993. She also served in New Jersey, Canada and Zambia.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in 1949 and professed her final vows in 1956.

She earned a master’s of education in administration from the University of Toronto.
Her sister, Olympia, survives her.

Burial was April 29, 2020 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. A Memorial Mass was offered Sept. 26, 2020 in Mount St. John Convent, Purchase.
