Six Priests Marking Their 25th Anniversaries of Ordination

Six priests of the archdiocese are celebrating their 25th anniversaries of priesthood this year.

Father Donald Baker has been pastor of St. Monica, St. Elizabeth of Hungary and St. Stephen of Hungary parish in Manhattan since 2015. He has served as regional dean of East Manhattan since 2016. Before that he was pastor of St. Teresa’s, Manhattan, for 12 years. He served as parochial vicar of St. Gregory the Great, Manhattan, 2000-2003, and St. Frances de Chantal, the Bronx, 1995-2000.

Father Cosme Fernandes has been pastor of St. Martin of Tours parish, the Bronx, since 2010 and served as a parochial vicar there the year before. He was a parochial vicar of St. Luke’s, the Bronx, 2006-2009. Formerly a member of the Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier, he was ordained in India in 1995 and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 2010.

Father David Nolan was named pastor of Blessed Sacrament parish in Manhattan last year. He was pastor of  St. Joseph of the Holy Family, Manhattan, 2011-2019; St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist, Beacon, 2005-2011; and St. Catherine of Genoa, Manhattan, 2000-2005, where he served as administrator, 1999-2000. He was parochial vicar of St. Brendan, the Bronx, 1995-1999.

Father Jose Serrano has served as pastor of St. Philip Neri parish, the Bronx, since 2016. He was pastor of St. Teresa’s, Manhattan, the previous year. He was temporary administrator of St. John Vianney and administrator of Holy Family, both in the Bronx, 2014-2015. He was pastor of St. John Vianney, 2009-2014. He served as administrator of Sacred Heart, Newburgh, 2008-2009, and St. Columba’s, Manhattan, 2006-2008. He was a parochial vicar at St. Ann, Ossining, 2003-2006 and St. Elizabeth, Manhattan, 1995-2003. 

Father Joseph Hung Viet Tran has served as parochial vicar of St. Nicholas of Tolentine parish, the Bronx, since 1995. The assignment includes special ministry to the Vietnamese community.

Father John Tran has served since 2009 as pastor of St. Peter’s parish in Monticello, where he was administrator the previous year and parochial vicar, 2003-2008. He was parochial vicar of Our Lady Help of Christians, Staten Island, 2001-2003, and St. Anthony’s, the Bronx, 1995-1999. He was chaplain of Montefiore Medical Center, the Bronx, 1999-2001.
