Brother J. Francis Dolphin, M.M.

Brother J. Francis Dolphin, M.M., who served in Chile for many years in circus ministry and other programs, died March 23 at the Maryknoll Society Center assisted living unit in Ossining. He was 84.
Brother Dolphin taught ESL in Chile and Bolivia, and he also served in circus ministry in Sarasota, Fla. He did his mission work in South America over several decades, beginning in the 1960s, and also serving in the United States in Maryknoll development and promotion.
Born in Worcester, Mass., he entered Maryknoll in 1957 and professed final vows in 1965. He held a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.
He is survived by his brother, Everett Dolphin, and three sisters, Maureen Thayer, Joanne Frances Smith and Bernardine Teresa Thurston.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 31 in Queen of Apostles Chapel at Maryknoll. Brother Dolphin was cremated and his cremains will be interred in Quincy, Mass.
