Priests Named Staten Island  Pastor, Dutchess Administrator

Father Edwin Cipot was appointed pastor of Holy Child on Staten Island, and Father Jeffrey Maurer was named administrator of the newly merged parish of St. Christopher, St. Sylvia, Good Shepherd and St. Joseph, Red Hook, the Cardinal’s Office announced. 

The appointments were effective July 1. 

Father Cipot had served at Holy Child as administrator, 2021-2022, and parochial vicar, 2006-2021. He was parochial vicar of St. Charles Borromeo, Harlem, 2005-2006 and 2000-2004, and director of vocations for the archdiocese, 2004-2005. He was ordained in 2000.

Father Jeffrey Maurer had served since March as parochial vicar of Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, and St. Christopher-St. Sylvia, Red Hook. Before that, he was pastor of St. Mary’s, Washingtonville, beginning in 2010, after having served there as administrator for a year. He was assistant secretary to Cardinal Edward Egan for six months. After his ordination in 2005, he was first assigned as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart, Monroe, 2005-2009.
