Sister Bridget Puzon, O.S.U., who taught in the English department and served as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the College of New Rochelle, died Sept. 21 at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 91.

Sister Bridget was at the College of New Rochelle as dean, 1978-1984, and in the English department, 1964-1968. She was the director of advancement and communications for the Ursuline Province, 2004-2016, and taught at The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, 1961-1964.

She also served in Malone, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Sister Bridget served on the board of trustees for Ursuline schools, including the Academy of Mount St. Ursula, the Bronx, and The Ursuline School. Her book, “Women Religious and the Intellectual Life: The North American Achievement,” was published in 1994.

Born in New York City, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1952 and professed final vows in 1957. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of New Rochelle; a master’s in English from Boston College; and a Ph.D. in English from Harvard University.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 26 in the Ursuline Province Center Chapel, New Rochelle. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
