Sister Christina Murray, R.S.H.M.

Sister Christina Murray, R.S.H.M., who served at Marymount Secondary School in Tarrytown for eight years, died Aug. 30 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 89.

Sister Christina was at Marymount Secondary School, 1976-1984. She taught at St. Thomas Aquinas School, the Bronx, 1960-1966, and worked in the Tea House at Marymount College, Tarrytown, 1958-1960. She also served in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties, and Virginia.

Born in County Leitrim, Ireland, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1957 and professed final vows in 1963.

She received a bachelor’s degree in history from Marymount College, Tarrytown, and an LPN from Elizabeth Seton College, Yonkers.

Her sister, Sister Eveline Murray, R.S.H.M., survives her. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 2 at Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
