Sister Francis Goguen, F.S.P.

Sister Francis Goguen, F.S.P., who served at the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Home in the Bronx for 10 years, died Aug. 17 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 90.

Sister Francis was at Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Home, 1970-1972 and 1953-1961. She taught at Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, 1974-1980; St. Patrick’s School, Yorktown Heights, 1968-1970; St. Columbanus, Cortlandt Manor, 1963-1965; and St. Matthew’s, Hastings-on-Hudson, 1961-1963. She was superior of group mothers at St. Joseph’s Home, Peekskill, 1965-1968, and also served in Albany, Troy and New Jersey.

Born in Rhinebeck, she entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in 1951 and professed final vows in 1958.

She received a bachelor’s degree in English from Ladycliff College; a master’s in education from SUNY New Paltz, New Paltz; and a master’s in learning disabilities from New York University, Manhattan.
Her brother, Paul, survives her.

Sister Francis donated her body to New York Medical College, Valhalla. All services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
